A foil saggar can be used as well when firing. A "saggar" is anything which encloses a piece of pottery while it is being fired. A foil saggar can be used to influence a specific atmosphere to be created while the piece gets fired. Another type of saggar is a paper saggar. A paper sagger burns away during the firing process but it also creates a specific type of environment while firing. It creates different designs and colors on the vessel.
