Our next project was to create a drawing using colored pencils, pastels, or chalks. I chose the prismacolor colored pencils because I absolutely love the way they blend and the shades you can create. Also I love how they blend but don't smear. I am a very messy person so that happens a lot and it's nice to work with a medium that does not smear.
We had to choose a topic and create a drawing of that topic up close. We had to pay attention to detail and put our own spin on things. I feel like I did that with these palm leaves. I really like how in the very first leaf, you can see the veins and the different shades of green. I also really love how the leaf is more white in the center and then gradually gets darker.
This picture is a huge step for me. I am very proud of this piece of work because I had never worked with colored pencils before this class and I have learned so much from Ms. Rossi and my peers. I believe this is is a big step for me and I know my artwork will only continue to grow.
