A Puzzle Worth Solving
This is my finished art piece! I titled it "A Puzzle Worth Solving" because that is one of the news clippings right above my head and it also represents how each person on this earth is a puzzle worth solving. We as humans are all unique and I tried to show that in this piece. Each of the words I glued to this canvas I chose specifically. I chose words that I felt like represented me. Some words highlight the positives and some highlight the negatives but there are more positive than negative. I wanted this to portray how each one of us contains good and bad qualities, but good outweighs the bad.
I have never been very comfortable working with multiple medias. I was very nervous about using news clippings and spray paint as my back ground. I was afraid it was going to look cheap and crappy. I am incredibly happy with how the use of mixed media turned out! I love the background; it's one of my favorite aspects of this piece!
I used the techniques of value and mixing color that Ms. Rossi taught us on this project. I thought I was finished and the face of my painting was a solid white. It looked very cheap to me and I was not pleased with the finished product. So I used the skills Ms. Rossi taught us in unit one about value to help add a little more detention to the face and hair. I love how it turned out and it was so nice to see aspects and skills learned in one unit carry over into the next.
